Hiring Me

The first step when hiring any lawyer is to ensure that there is no conflict of interest. A lawyer cannot advise you if he or she is already advising somebody else in the same dispute or has close connections with other people involved in the case.

Contact Me

I am always happy to take a few moments to advise whether I would have a conflict of interest. Simply complete the form at right, listing everybody who you expect to be involved in the case (be sure to include the name of any companies or businesses). Submitting this form does not oblige you to go further; it simply lets you find out if I may be able to take your case.

Meeting to Review the Case

If there are no conflicts and you want to consider hiring me, we will meet to review the file, look at key documents, and talk about the case. There is no cost for this meeting. It is an opportunity for you to meet me, and for me to learn a little more about the case. Often this meeting and exchange of information can be done by telephone and email.

Decision To Proceed

Once I understand the case, I will let you know whether I can take it on. This decision is usually based on the nature of the case, time requirements, and my current schedule. I will take the case only if I am certain that I will be able to give it my full attention and do an excellent job for you.

Retainer and Contract for Legal Services

If we both agree to proceed, we will sign a contract for legal services and you will then be required to provide the retainer funds. At that point I will take charge of the case and begin moving it forward.
